Zetwerk inaugurates its largest electronics manufacturing facility near Chennai

The electronics manufacturing industry in India is set to receive a major boost with the announcement of two new clusters in Tamil Nadu. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently inaugurated the Zetwerk facility in Pillaipakkam, which will be a part of one of the two clusters worth a whopping ₹1,112 crore. This move is expected to create numerous job opportunities and contribute significantly to the growth of the electronics sector in the country.

The two clusters, located in Pillaipakkam and Manallur, will be developed under the Modified Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMC 2.0) Scheme of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The scheme aims to promote the growth of the electronics manufacturing industry in India by providing world-class infrastructure and facilities to attract investments and boost exports.

The Pillaipakkam cluster, spread over an area of 100 acres, will focus on the manufacturing of electronic components and consumer electronics. It is expected to attract an investment of ₹500 crore and generate employment for over 5,000 people. The Manallur cluster, spread over 200 acres, will focus on the manufacturing of electronic products such as mobile phones, laptops, and other IT hardware. It is expected to attract an investment of ₹612 crore and generate employment for over 10,000 people.

Inaugurating the Zetwerk facility, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “The development of these two clusters will not only boost the electronics manufacturing industry in Tamil Nadu but also contribute to the overall growth of the country’s economy. The state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities provided under the EMC 2.0 scheme will attract investments and create job opportunities for the youth.”

The Zetwerk facility, which is a part of the Pillaipakkam cluster, is a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit that will produce high-quality electronic components. It is equipped with the latest technology and machinery, making it one of the most advanced facilities in the country. The facility is expected to cater to the growing demand for electronic components in the domestic and international markets.

The development of these two clusters is a significant step towards achieving the government’s vision of making India a global hub for electronics manufacturing. The country has already emerged as the second-largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world, and with the development of these clusters, it is expected to further strengthen its position in the global market.

The electronics manufacturing industry in India has witnessed tremendous growth in recent years, with the government’s initiatives such as Make in India and Digital India. The development of these clusters will further accelerate this growth and provide a major boost to the country’s economy. It will also help in reducing the import dependency of electronic products and promote the export of ‘Made in India’ electronics.

The establishment of these clusters will not only benefit the electronics industry but also have a positive impact on the overall socio-economic development of the region. It will create a ripple effect, leading to the growth of ancillary industries and the development of a skilled workforce. The clusters will also provide a platform for small and medium enterprises to collaborate with larger companies and contribute to the growth of the sector.

The government’s focus on promoting the electronics manufacturing industry is evident from the various policies and schemes introduced in recent years. The EMC 2.0 scheme is one such initiative that aims to create a conducive environment for the growth of the sector. It provides financial assistance to the state governments for the development of infrastructure and facilities in the electronics manufacturing clusters.

The development of these two clusters in Tamil Nadu is a testament to the government’s commitment to promoting the electronics manufacturing industry in the country. It is a step towards achieving the goal of making India a global leader in electronics manufacturing and creating a self-reliant economy.

In conclusion, the development of two major electronics manufacturing clusters in Tamil Nadu is a significant milestone in the growth of the sector. It will not only boost the electronics industry but also contribute to the overall economic development of the country. With the government’s continuous support and initiatives, India is on its way to becoming a global hub for electronics manufacturing.
