Türkiye, UAE sign 7 strategic deals to deepen ties

Turkey and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have strengthened their bilateral relations with the signing of seven agreements on Wednesday. The agreements were signed during a high-level visit by UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Turkey, marking a significant step towards closer cooperation between the two nations.

The visit of President Al Nahyan to Turkey is a testament to the strong and growing ties between the two countries. The UAE has been a key partner for Turkey in the Middle East region, and the signing of these agreements further cements this partnership.

The first agreement signed was a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries’ foreign ministries. This MoU aims to enhance political consultations and cooperation between Turkey and the UAE on regional and international issues. It also includes the exchange of expertise and information in various fields, such as diplomacy, consular affairs, and international law.

Another significant agreement was the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) agreement, which aims to boost economic cooperation and trade between the two nations. This agreement will facilitate the exchange of goods, services, and investments, and will also encourage joint ventures and partnerships between Turkish and Emirati companies.

In addition to these, the two countries also signed an agreement to establish a Joint Strategic Cooperation Committee, which will focus on enhancing cooperation in the fields of defense, security, and intelligence. This committee will also work towards promoting joint military exercises and training programs, as well as sharing intelligence and information to combat terrorism and other security threats.

The signing of these agreements is a clear indication of the commitment of both countries to strengthen their ties and explore new areas of cooperation. It also reflects the shared vision of Turkey and the UAE to work together towards regional stability and prosperity.

During the visit, President Al Nahyan also met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other high-level officials to discuss ways to further enhance bilateral relations. The two leaders expressed their mutual desire to deepen cooperation in various fields, including trade, energy, tourism, and culture.

The UAE has been one of Turkey’s top trading partners in the Middle East, with the trade volume between the two countries reaching $7.6 billion in 2020. The signing of the JEC agreement is expected to further boost trade and investment between the two nations.

The two countries also signed an MoU on tourism cooperation, which aims to promote tourism and cultural exchanges between Turkey and the UAE. This agreement will facilitate the exchange of tourists, encourage joint tourism projects, and promote cultural events and exhibitions.

Furthermore, an MoU on cooperation in the field of agriculture was also signed, which will focus on enhancing cooperation in areas such as agricultural research, technology transfer, and food security. This agreement is expected to benefit both countries, as Turkey is a major producer of agricultural products, while the UAE is a major importer of food products.

Last but not least, the two countries also signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of education, which will promote student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, and collaborations between universities and educational institutions.

In conclusion, the signing of these seven agreements between Turkey and the UAE marks a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between the two countries. It reflects the shared commitment of both nations to deepen their cooperation and explore new avenues for collaboration. These agreements will not only benefit Turkey and the UAE but also contribute to regional stability and prosperity. With these strong foundations, the future of the Turkey-UAE partnership looks bright and promising.
