Claudia Sheinbaum, leader of the Transformation Defense Committees, continues to garner support ahead of the year 2024. Recently, she met with the Autonomous Confederation of Mexican Workers and Employees (CATEM).
“The success of workers is the success of Mexico,” expressed Claudia Sheinbaum during her speech. She emphasized the issue of the minimum wage in the country, noting that for decades workers received insufficient pay, impacting the international perception of Mexican labor. However, she highlighted that with the arrival of Andrés Manuel López Obrador to the presidency, the minimum wage has increased, with an additional increase expected next year, aiming to improve the domestic economy. Additionally, she emphasized the extension of vacation days and labor freedom for workers, underscoring the importance of defending their rights and dignity.
Addressing previous concerns about inflation and foreign direct investment related to the minimum wage increase, Sheinbaum emphasized that these concerns have not materialized, and Mexico has reached historic levels of foreign direct investment. In this context, she stated that the well-being of workers positively impacts employers, reiterating the motto of “for the good of all, especially the poor,” translating into shared prosperity.
Claudia Sheinbaum celebrated the coalition with CATEM after swearing in the members of the Labor Committees of the Fourth Transformation Defense. She recognized and praised the commitment of these individuals in defending the rights and salaries of workers. Pedro Haces Pedro Haces Pedro Haces
